Our Beliefs and Values

The mission of the United Methodist Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  As United Methodist's, we believe in the power of God's grace, free to all, and the gift of free agency all persons have, to respond to God's love.  We believe in the God who continues to create, Jesus the Christ who showed the world love in His life, death and resurrection, and the Holy Spirit that sustains us on each step of the journey.  United Methodists are people who have the love of God in their hearts.  This is a gift of God's Holy Spirit.  And, the same Spirit causes Methodists to love the Lord their God with all their hearts, with all their souls, with all their minds, and with all their strength.

The further mission of Faith United Methodist Church, Woodbury, is to invite and seek to serve all people on a spiritual journey.  Our church is centered in our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ who will love God, love others and serve the world.  To be a disciple means living out a commitment to follow Jesus.  For us that means growing in deeper love with God and living out an expression of that love in our relationship with others and in our commitment to serve and bless the world.

As a congregation, we value graciousness, generosity and growth.  With God's guidance, we strive to cultivate the virtues of compassion, respect, hospitality, and a commitment to bear the fruit of the spirit; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, and Self-Control.  We accept people wherever they are on their faith-journey and believe that a variety of perspectives helps all of us to grow.

Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a lifelong journey of faith, growth and sharing.  Our purpose as Faith United Methodist Church, Woodbury is:

  • To invite all who are willing to come to faith . . .   in Christ
  • To grow in faith . . .   in Christ
  • To share the faith . . .   in Christ
